Scentsy is now in Ireland!

Q: What products is Scentsy offering in Europe?
A: Scentsy is offering 50 fragrances, 19 Full-Size Scentsy Warmers, 6 Mid-Size Scentsy Warmers, and Warmer Stands. In addition, there are four Combine and Save offerings: Scentsy Bar 3-Pack, Scentsy Bar 6-Pack, Perfect Scentsy (Full-Size) and Perfect Scentsy (Mid-Size). Just as Scentsy launched in the U.S. and grew virally, offering more and different products as we learned and grew, we want to do the same in Europe. As the authentic wickless candle company, we want to showcase our warmers and wax products before introducing other products to the market.

Q. What kind of wax is used when making Scentsy bars?
A.  We use a custom, high-quality paraffin wax blend. Our wax blend is designed for a specific scent load and melt point.

Q. What kind of oil does Scentsy use in its products?
A. Non-essential fragrance oil.

Q. Do I use a whole Scentsy bar at a time?
A.  Scentsy Bars come in eight break-apart sections. One or more sections can be used at a time according to preference. Wax will not dissipate and should be replaced when the fragrance is gone.

Q. How do I clean the wax out of the warmer?
A.  While the wax is warmed and melted, pour it into a disposable container and wipe the dish with a paper towel or napkin.

Q. How often does Scentsy come out with a new catalogue?
A.  Twice a year: one in the spring (March) and one in the fall (September).  Scentsy will make each new catalogue available one month early to give you time to prepare for the upcoming season.

Q: What is the starting commission for new Consultants?

As soon as you achieve a cumulative total of 1,000 points in PRV, you will be promoted to Certified Consultant rank and will be eligible to receive a 25% commission on all future PRV. That’s a 5% raise you can earn right away! Earn additional commissions by building a team and growing your business!

Q: Are the warmers or scents different in Europe?
A: To meet European requirements, the light bulbs used in Scentsy Warmers have been replaced with heating elements to melt the wax and LEDs to provide light through the vents. Electric voltage is different in the U.K., Ireland and in Germany and Scentsy Warmers for Europe are designed for use in those markets. Scents for the European markets are manufactured in France, but the 50 fragrances included in the catalog are Scentsy fragrances popular in the U.S.

Q: How are products priced for European markets?
A: The United Kingdom (U.K.) prices are in British pounds (£); Germany prices are euros (€). European pricing is “VAT inclusive.”  “VAT” stands for “value added tax.” It is country-specific tax on the purchase price of some products and varies from country to country.  Scentsy product sales will include VAT in the U.K. and Germany.

Q: What is the PRV (Personal Retail Volume) amount for each product?
A: PRV is the same concept everywhere in the world however is calculated a little differently based on exchange / PEG rate. We call the European full-size warmers DLW (because of the LED light) and in the UK that is 30 PRV, for a full size warmer, so it exactly like the US.

Q: Will there be phone and email support for new Consultants?
A:  Yes, there is a toll free or “Free Call” number and email support:  support.uk@scentsy.com or support.de@scentsy.com

A: Not initially, however that is coming soon!

Q: Is there a requirement to remain active with Scentsy?
A: A Consultant must have a monthly total of at least 150 points in Personal Retail Volume (PRV) in one of the last three months to continue their agreement with Scentsy. Any  Consultant who does not accumulate at least 150 PRV in any one of the last three months will be cancelled from Scentsy.

Q: Does the Consultant website subscription also come with a customer newsletter?
A: Yes, subscriptions are 10 GBP and 12 Euros. The customer newsletter is not presently available, however plans are to launch this very soon.

Q: Will European Consultant PWS be similar to the U.S. PWS?
A: Yes, they will be similar. However, due to restrictions in some European countries, Consultants in the U.K. and Germany will not have a “Buy” tab on their PWS. They will be able to schedule parties and recruit, but will not be able to sell products on their PWS. In place of a “Buy” tab, visitors to a European PWS will be able to browse the Scentsy catalog, and can contact the Consultant directly to place an order.

A: Same polices as in the US.  Only one Consultant allowed per event.  Please see your policy and procedures manual for complete details.

A:  VAT is like a sales tax. It varies by country and the typical practice is to include it in the pricing of products sold.

A: Commissions from your sales and bonuses for the preceding month will be loaded to your Scentsy Pay Portal (accessed via your work station) by the end of the day on the eleventh day of the month; if the eleventh falls on a weekend, commissions will be paid on the next business day.
To be included in the following month’s commission payment, orders must be submitted any time during the month, but prior to the end of the day (23:59 local time) on the last day of the month. For example, any qualifying sales during the month of April earn a commission payment by May 11. Additionally, ranks and titles are updated when commissions are paid.

Q. Can I sell at fairs and events?

Q. Can I sell in retail stores?
A.  No. A Consultant can have a promotional display with marketing materials for the purpose of generating leads or orders. Absolutely no selling can be done in a fixed retail establishment.

PEG Rate Explained
Scentsy has a Global Compensation Plan that allows us to create cross-border teams and global down lines, and allows all Consultants the same qualification for the same effort. A Global Compensation Plan requires a Global Point System that is currency and tax neutral.  We call our point system Personal Retail Volume (PRV). PRV creates an equitable selling and compensation environment for all Consultants. For example, all Consultants around the globe can achieve active status in a month by selling five full-size warmers because a full size warmer equals 30 PRV in the United States, Canada, the U.K., and Germany.

While PRV is the same for everyone, sales prices and taxes vary by market and currency.  We set a sales price based on a market price for that country or region. PRV points are not the same as local sales prices. In Canada, our full-size warmers sell for $36 Canadian before tax. In the U.S., our full-size warmers sell for $30 before tax, and in the U.K., our full size warmers sell for £25 before tax.

Our intent is to always pay commissions of 20-25% of pre-tax sales price. To pay commissions in local currency, we use a calculation that includes what we call a Peg Rate to convert PRV points to local currency. The peg rate is set for a period of time and does not necessarily correspond to any currency exchange rate.  The peg rate is derived from the difference between local sales prices before tax and the global PRV. For a full size warmer, here is the calculation.

PRV x 20 or 25% x Market Peg Rate = Commission amount In the U.K., a full-size warmer is 30 PRV sold at £25 before tax. If you divided the 30 PRV into the £25, you get a U.K. Peg Rate of 0.833 (the 3 is recurring). So in the U.K., the commission calculation is the following:

PRV x 20 or 25% x 0.833 = Commission amount

Let me put that in an example. Let’s say a U.K. Escential Consultant sold 610 PRV in April.  610 x 20% x 0.833 equals £101.63. Put another way, this same Escential Consultant gets 20% of 30 PRV points as commission or 6 PRV points for every full-size warmer she or he sells, which equals £5 when calculated to the U.K peg rate of 0.833.

£5 is 20% of the pre-VAT price of £25 for a full-size warmer in the U.K. If commissions were paid on PRV as if PRV was currency, the commissions would be £7.50, which is 30% of the pre-tax sale price. All Consultants in all markets are paid commissions on pre-tax sales prices. This peg rate market adjustment is applied to each currency in which we do business and the peg rate varies by currency. In an attempt to keep things simple, we did not communicate the details of the peg rate calculation explicitly. And because the VAT inclusive price of a full-size warmer in the U.K. is the same as the PRV value of that warmer, one would naturally assume there was a one-to-one ratio between PRV and local currency commissions.

We will clarify the intent of the compensation plan for all new Consultants in the New Consultant Start-up Guide, and will clarify the compensation plan chart in the catalogue as soon as we can.
