I have been asked on a few occasions about starting a Scentsy business with people who want to “go into it together”. For some this might be a couple looking to work the business, maybe a husband and wife. For others this might mean a business partner for you in your Scentsy business. I wanted to provide you some information about joining Scentsy and some areas to think about when your looking to become a Scentsy consultant. If you want more general information you can read about joining and selling Scentsy. I also have information for those who are looking for a Scentsy sponsor or selecting a Scentsy team.
There are also minimum requirements you must meet to enroll as a Scentsy Consultant: Scentsy Family Requirements
The information here is for those looking to work the Scentsy business with a partner.
Scentsy is a great business to work as a team. Even if you don’t currently have a business partner I recommend finding a Scentsy Buddy to work with at shows, parties and events. If you don’t have anyone you can always sponsor someone into the Scentsy Business and work it together. With the unique Scentsy model of multiple brands under one company it allows for two very close friends or family members to both sell different products but help each other.
Recently someone asked me about joining Scentsy and working the business with her sister, two sisters wanting to work the business together. In this scenario there are a few options, it really depends on the goals of the business. Here are a few things to consider as well as options.
If the intent is to just sell products then joining under one consultant ID might be a good plan. However as many consultants can tell you, they joined to get a discount on Scentsy products or to just sell and it turned into so much more. Something to consider ~ Awards are given to one person, for one ID. So when someone earns the trip for one, only one consultant can go. In some cases Scentsy has allowed consultants to buy in a guest (the guest cannot be a Scentsy consultant).
Another option is to sign up separately. One person would sign up as a consultant and then have your friend, family member or relative join your team. You can still work the business together with two individual Consultant IDs. Or you could join Scentsy as a business entity and sell under one Scentsy Consultant ID.
If you want to sell scentsy Family products with a family member/friend under one Consultant ID:
If the family member or friend is not your spouse, a business entity must be created. Consult with an attorney, tax advisor, or irs.gov on the Internet to determine the legal requirements of your state and select an appropriate entity type for your needs (i.e. S-Corporation, LLC, Partnership, etc.). After being recognized by state and federal authorities as a legal entity, you will need to submit a Business Entity Registration Form and a Consultant Application and Agreement to Scentsy Family.
The other option is that one can join individual and then convert over to a business entity later and may require processing fees. Please contact me if this is something you are considering.
You can join Scentsy as a business entity. If you have already established a business you can use that business name in joining. You do not need to have a business entity but can if you prefer for tax purposes. If a Consultant desires Scentsy Family to recognize her/his Consultant ID as a legally formed business (i.e. S-Corporation, LLC, Partnership, etc.) other than a sole–proprietorship, a business entity registration form should be completed. A business entity could also be used if the Consultant would like to do business with another person or for tax purposes.
If you want to sell scentsy Family products with a spouse:
A spouse may be listed with you on your account without having to complete a business entity registration form. After you register online to join Scentsy, you will email accountservices@scentsy.com if you would like your spouse listed as a co–applicant on your account. If not legally married, however, Scentsy Family does not allow more than one person to exist on an account (i.e. mother and daughter, sisters, friends, etc.).
